Do you need to get any vaccinations before traveling to India?
No
I recommend getting vaccinated against tetanus, just in case you fall, get injured, or cut yourself, the country is not the cleanest. You can also get vaccinated against hepatitis.
Only at your request. The country is no dirtier than Egypt, for example.
Thank you. And how is it in New Delhi compared to the rest of the country?
@Dmitry: It depends on the areas in Delhi. Some places are super clean, while others are a bit dirty. But overall, it's okay.
@Dmitry: New Delhi within Delhi is like the City area within London, it's mainly tourist attractions and government institutions. Where does the dirt in New Delhi come from?
@Dmitry: It depends on what you consider "dirt." People here are used to throwing away packaging, water bottles, right where they no longer need them. In the morning you walk - it's clean and tidy, in the evening it's the same place - heaps of trash. Well, you still have to look for infections during the day with a torch. If you aren't going to eat exotic foods like raw crocodile steak, it's unlikely that you'll need vaccinations. You can get poisoned and fall ill at home too.
@Dragon: Sounds quite normal, if compared to villages in Sri Lanka or Malaysia.
