Review of the Sun Siyam Passikuda hotel, stayed for 2 weeks in June 2024.

Beautiful hotel, the entire territory is very stylishly decorated, a solid 5-star. The rooms are two-story cottages, with no animals inside. Spacious, two-level, huge outdoor bathroom (about 50 square meters). The room can accommodate 2+2 with children (then the children are a bit lower than your level, but in the same room with you).

We booked on the official website, no need to pay anything in advance, UnionPay works.

Food - the buffet is excellent, tiger prawns are grilled every evening, lamb, lots of desserts, and incredibly tasty bread (they bake it themselves).

I went for a massage - 10,500 rupees for an hour, overall not bad.

There is a children's room - without staff.

About meals - the hotel operates from breakfast to an all-inclusive system. The difference is in the drinks. We took breakfast/dinner. And here’s a hidden nuance. We had lunch at an excellent restaurant by the pool, the menu is below, everything is delicious, prices include taxes. Only drinks at the hotel are expensive.

@Natalia: Thank you for the feedback! Is Sun Siyam the one after Amaya? And after that, is there an abandoned hotel? From the photos online, the stylish interiors, hammocks, soft sun loungers, and children's playground look beautiful; we didn't have anything like that. What did you think of the pool, did you like it?

@No, further on, it's through the hotel, then a half-abandoned hotel, then a wasteland with an abandoned building, and only the hotel remains, it takes 10 minutes to walk to Amaya along the beach. The pool is nice, though by evening it actually feels like a hot bath. Well, if the absence of the ocean doesn't bother you, then it's a great hotel. Yes, there are a lot of beautiful sunbeds on the beach, there's always a place. The only downside is that the ants sometimes don't let you relax in peace.

Continuation of the downsides of Sun Siyam Passikuda. So let's move on to the downsides - the hotel occasionally instead of a normal dinner serves a menu dinner. What this means is one soup (without choice), a salad without choice, one out of 4 hot dishes, and 1 out of 4 desserts. Dinners are quite pricey, for our family the difference per day on breakfasts and breakfast/dinner was 23,000 rupees, which is a lot of money. The hotel says when there are few people, we do it this way, to me it seems like simple economy. Well, okay, by menu, but the last time the wait for the hot dish was 1.5 hours. In general, I don't know, maybe it makes sense to take breakfasts and eat from the huge menu by the pool or buy the buffet once. There are no restaurants outside, the nearest one is a 25-minute walk, not the best experience in the heat. The second downside - but the most important one, the beach is absolutely not swimmable. The whole bottom is covered with dead corals, and even slippers won't help you, as it is shallow. Not just shallow, but from the knee to the middle of the thigh. The nearest beach is the local beach, you walk for about 15 minutes, pass by locals, and there is a perfect entrance to the ocean. And overall, the best beach is where the Uga Bay hotel is. Overall, the rooms are luxurious and new, the territory is beautiful, the food is good (with some minor issues), and the service is generally good (the Sri Lankans are responsive), with a walk to a good beach.
